CLOCK HOUR INFORMATION FOR CENTERS
Child care professionals (Directors and staff) who work in a child care center may earn clock hours of training using the courses from Self Dimensions, Inc. Please check with your individual
state requirements
to see whether or not our materials are acceptable in your state.
There are thirty (30) video courses with over 140 clock hours of training from which to choose. Three of the video modules are recognized for management hours. (There is also one non-video course in The Child Care Worker Series. It offers 13.25 clock hours of training.)
Each video module includes a live-action video with a package of reproducible study materials. The study material contains pre and post quizzes, vocabulary, discussion questions, a personal application form, an evaluation sheet and reproducible certificates. A module may be completed as a self-study course, or as part of a Direct Training group activity.
In many states, where the courses are presented in a direct training workshop, center directors or training coordinators may grade the completed study material and award the certificates. Please check with your state licensing representative to make sure that in your state the Director may grade the work.
(Please note: If completed as a self-instructional course in Texas, TDPRS regulations now dictate the work must be graded by Self Dimensions. Individuals must return the completed self-instructional work to Self Dimensions with a
$3.00 grading/processing fee.)
There is no limit on the number of staff you can train. Check with your state licensing representative to see how frequently early childhood professionals may use the study modules for clock hours of training. (States vary from 1 to 3 years.)
It is cost effective for centers to build a training library which can be used for ongoing staff training and parent education. The reproducible study materials contain a section entitled The Parent Partnership.
