Continuing Education courses have been designed to help you pursue personal or professional interests. The following continuing education courses will enhance your expertise in working with young children. You may use these courses to:

Satisfy requirements when working toward or renewing your CDA.  For information contact:

Complete the needed training for directors and staff of child care centers.

Complete the required training for your Family Day Home in the convenience of your own home.

Obtain an overview of a professional field you may be considering.

As a parent or teacher learn specific skills and gain a broader understanding of working with children.

Materials: Each continuing education course includes a portfolio of study materials, and the rental of a live-action video. Students must purchase one or more required texts for each course. Some texts are used for more than one course. The CEU courses use the videos and basic study materials from the Self Dimensions early childhood training programs. Additional readings and activities are included in order to fulfill the requirements for one CEU. (One CEU is defined as ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction). The portfolio includes study questions, vocabulary, quiz, activities, Statement of Learning, and Personal Application.

CEU Credit: Each Early Childhood / Child Care course, in the CEU format, is worth one (1) CEU. In order to receive continuing education credit for your course, you must return the video in good condition and receive a passing score on the portfolio of study materials which is submitted to Self
Dimensions for evaluation. Your portfolio is graded by the designated instructor at Self Dimensions.  The CEU credit is awarded by Texas Tech University and recorded on a non-academic transcript.

Cost: Each course costs $50.00. This investment includes video rental, study materials, *shipping charges, portfolio evaluation, and all costs for CEU processing through Texas Tech University. In addition, the student must purchase the required text(s). See each individual CEU course description for the required text(s).

Time Limit and Extensions: You have 90 days to complete all course work. If you are unable to complete and submit the portfolio within 90 days, you may request one extension of 30 days. There is a $10 extension fee. If you are requesting an extension, prior to portfolio due date, (1) call or FAX Self Dimensions with credit card # or (2) mail $10 along with name, address, phone and name of course you wish to extend. You may extend your enrollment one time only.

Unlike other distance learning courses from Texas Tech University, you have a limit of ninety days (90 days) to complete the Early Childhood / Child Care CEU courses.

If you wish to earn EARLY CHILDHOOD / CHILD CARE CEUs using the self-study programs from Self Dimensions, Inc., and Texas Tech University Distance Learning, please do the following:

2. Once you have selected the course(s), complete the CEU ORDER FORM. Be sure to include the cost of the required text(s). Include your check, money order or credit card information (credit card orders may be faxed to 1-806-792-9309) and mail to:

3. Your order will be mailed (*UPS or US Post Office) within 48 hours.
   

4. Once you have completed the course work, return the video and the completed portfolio to:

5. Your grade will be submitted to Texas Tech University Distance Learning. TTUDL will send your non-academic certificate indicating successful completion of the course. Self Dimensions, Inc. will return the completed portfolio for your files.
