The information in this video includes procedures to reduce the incidence of illness, rules regarding sick children, safety precautions and what to do when an accident occurs. Viewers are given a basic introduction to types of child abuse, characteristics of abusers and what to do when abuse is suspected.

THE CHILD CARE SELF INSTRUCTIONAL COURSE
A non-video course based on the Child Care Worker Manual

The Child Care Worker Self-Instructional Course may be completed as an individual project (self-instructional (*)) or as a group project supervised by a Director or Training Coordinator (Direct Training (*)). Course work includes reading a 56 page manual, then completing Study Questions, Quiz Questions and Personal Application Comments for each of the eleven short chapters in the manual. Appropriate for the entry level child care professional, topics include: general information, characteristics of child care workers, learning environments, schedules and routines, communication strategies, learning and play activities and health and safety issues.
(*) If completed as a self-study course, individuals must return the course
work to Self Dimensions for grading along with a
$3.00
grading/processing fee.
(*) In most states, Center Directors or Training Coordinators may grade
the course work and award the certificates (reproducible certificates
provided) if the work is completed in a Direct Training event supervised
by the Director or Coordinator.
